About Us
MiCandidate is putting details on every candidate in one place. We create profiles of candidates standing for election, which includes their background, experience and policies. We did this in 2007 in Ireland and it was very succesful. Over six weeks, candidates profiles were viewed just under 4 million times.
We create profiles on candidates by carrying out research. We usually contact candidates or parties directly. We carry this research out at no cost to candidates, and we then make this information freely available to anyone and everyone on our website. Citizens can now knock on the door of thousands of candidates across Europe.
But we go a step further. We share every profile we create with dozens of the most popular news and citizen websites. This greatly increases the number of places you can find out about candidates online. Candidates are everywhere people are.
We are covering the European Elections in as many countries as we can, and hope that by June 4th to have covered just about every candidate from across the 27 European Union countries. We are also covering the local elections in Ireland.
We launched our first beta version of the website on April 15th and have rolled out additional services since. We will be constantly working to make improvements to the site and welcome any feedback.
In addition to providing information on candidates to citizens, we want to revolutionise the cost of campaigning online for candidates and to greatly improve the level of interaction with citizens. So, we are building tools that will help candidates and citizens interact online at a cost that is far less than the traditional model.
Politicians can now choose to use their profile on MiCandidate to sign up volunteers, to accept donations, to post videos and photos, to send text messages and newsletters, to get feedback on their policies and more. Traditionally it cost a lot of money for candidates to not only build a website, but to do many of the things we are now making possible at an entirely different price. We know of dozens of local candidates who have paid nearly 750 for the most basic website, and then more on top of that for updates and maintenance. We are changing that and we think that's a very positive thing for democracy. If you are a candidate and want to find out more then simply click here:
