Dr Alexander Stafford: Independent Candidate

Dr. Alexander Stafford has officially launched his campaign to seek a seat in the European Parliament to represent the constituents of Ireland South. To date, he has opened two constituency offices – one in Limerick at 92 O’Connell Street and one in Waterford at 114 The Quay.

He is a Consultant Radiologist by profession and has worked in both public and private practice here in the Mid West and also in Canada and Switzerland. He is multi-lingual, and intends to offer an open pair of ears and a fresh voice in Europe to the public of Ireland South.

Because of his extensive experience in the area of public health, he is promoting a ‘Universal Compulsory Health Insurance scheme, so that ALL citizens can be fully insured and have equal access to healthcare, as is the system in many countries in mainland Europe.

He also proposes the adoption of the ‘Pro Bono Publico’ principle by professionals not just in the health system, but across as many public and private sectors as possible.
This concept entails professional work being undertaken voluntarily and without payment as a public service for those who are unable to afford it.

He is also offering a fresh view and new thinking on taxation and on the formation of a National Government as the best means of dealing with the current economic crisis. He’s in favour of a national ‘think tank’ to be formed composed of the best business and economic managers in the country to promote a new approach to getting people properly trained for employment which will keep them in jobs.

He is also supporting the cultivation of our natural resources to lead the way in green energy here, and supporting the young farmers of Ireland and Europe to win better incomes and funding.

Dr. Alexander Stafford understands the huge task he has set for himself to be elected as an Independent voice for Ireland South and for Europe in this year’s European Election.
He firmly believes he is a fresh voice for the region, promoting new ideas and thinking that have a practical edge and would work to improve the quality of people’s lives. He’s asking the people of the region to support his campaign to be elected as an Independent candidate for the new European Parliament.

Experience: Alexander Stafford has worked as a Consultant Radiologist in Limerick city for the past twenty years, since 1989, initially having spent 11 years as a consultant radiologist at Mid Western Regional Hospital, Dooradoyle, Limerick. Alexander moved into full time private practice in 2000, thus he has good experience and knowledge of both the public and private sector of healthcare in Ireland.
